Commitments to Standards of Practice

In evaluating the Cultural Diversity Awareness training program, evaluators will seek to adhere to the Standards of Practice by the Joint Committee on Standards for Educational Evaluation.

Utility Standards

In considering the elements of the evaluation plan, stakeholders at all levels of the organization and program implementation have been identified.  The vision for the evaluator roles is a shared vison, having evaluators with expertise in the matters related to diversity and also individuals skilled in the field of evaluating programs.  Reporting strategies throughout the program will be consistent and uniform and feedback will be disseminated on the timely basis.  Evaluators will work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure continued support for the program and any recommendations that arise as a result of the evaluative process.

Feasibility Standards

The evaluation will meet feasibility standards by ensuring that disruptions to the Cultural Diversity Awareness training are kept to a minimum.  Evaluators will observe training without creating distractions.  Online surveys will be integrated with existing staff and student communication platforms and focus groups kept to a manageable timeframe, so as to maximize feedback without impacting work hours or personal time spent.  The plan allows for maximum reach in terms of feedback and anticipates cooperation across all levels of stakeholders at the college.

Propriety Standards

The evaluation will be conducted in compliance with legal and ethical evaluation standards and set boundaries to protect vulnerable stakeholders.  The evaluator(s) will consult with the college Privacy Officer to ensure that the evaluation meets privacy act requirements as set out in the college policies and procedures.

Accuracy Standards

The evaluation plan for Cultural Diversity Awareness Training is set up with clear objectives in mind.  Information collected in the process will be accurately documented and will clearly define information with appropriate detail related to the program and the outcomes achieved.  Evaluators will carefully monitor practices and work in concert with stakeholders to ensure correctness in reporting. The qualitative information will be summarized and analyzed to address key questions set out in the evaluation.  Quantitative data (collected in online surveys) will also be analyzed to provide added input related to evaluative queries.  Evaluators will provide reports and oral feedback that seek to provide feedback devoid of personal feelings or bias.
